Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a childcare centre that meets the needs of each child and family in a safe, healthy, environmentally friendly, stimulating and educational environment. Committed to the families we serve, we strive to give parents complete peace of mind, while being seen as a shining example of what a quality childcare centre should be.
Our Goals
- To provide convenient (open from 6:00am to 6:00pm) and dependable child care services
- Providing up to 4 healthy snacks per day, and offering an out-sourced hot lunch program (additional cost, optional service)
- To create a setting that fosters social, cognitive, and physical development in children by:
o Involving the children in community based experiences
o Ensuring an eco-friendly environment
o Hands-on learning by producing and growing vegetables in our gardens
- To provide a unique, holistic-based curriculum that fosters eco-literacy, critical thinking, communication, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and much more.
Our Curriculum
Our new holistic-based curriculum is unique to Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Parkland County area child care centres.
Our curriculum's philosophy is that a healthy and sustainable early childhood curriculum should create the container for children to both acquire and practice thinking skills, communication skills, and tools for emotional regulation. It should nurture children’s innate sense of caring for, and about, nature and all its inhabitants, while supporting and modeling choices and decisions that are grounded in both an Earth and human-centered ethic that celebrates diversity and does not exploit or exclude. It is the combination of academics combined with mindfulness and our eco-conscious approach that makes our curriculum truly unique.
Our Fees
Our monthly fees are as follows:
Infant (12-19 months) - $1230-$883 Affordability Grant=$347; with full subsidy $81
Toddler (19 months-3 years) - $1130-$709 Affordability Grant=$421; with full subsidy $155
Preschool (3-5 years, not yet in Kindergarten) - $985-$626 Affordability Grant=$359; with full subsidy $93
Kindergarten - $950-$626 Affordability Grant=$324; with full subsidy $58
OSC - School months $600; Summer months $700
Drop-in, 1-, 2- and 3-day enrollment options are NO LONGER AVAILABLE. We now only offer full-time spaces.
Healthy Alternatives
As caregivers, and parents ourselves, we want our children to be cared for in an environment that is free from as many harmful chemicals as possible. Although it is still necessary to follow licensing requirements set out by the government, we use as many eco-friendly cleaning products as possible.
Included with fees is up to 4 healthy snacks per day. We also out-source our hot lunch program which provides parents the option of purchasing home-cooked, delicious, healthy meals for children.
We also love essential oils and often diffuse them in our classrooms to foster a happy, healthy, and calm environment.
Children and staff are provided ionized alkaline water, which removes toxins from produce and encourages a healthy immune system.
Extended Operating Hours
My Happy Place Daycare offers extended hours, from 6:00am to 6:00pm, for those who commute and just need that extra bit of time. Please keep in mind that extended hours are for families that truly require the extra time due to work requirements. We highly recommend limiting care to a maximum of 10 hours per day, and may ask for proof of employment requirements in order to extend hours.
Community Involvement
What sets us apart from other daycare facilities is our community involvement. Twice per month children get to participate in events with local seniors, which benefits both the children and the residents. We are also proud to participate in various fund raising opportunities for local charities and programs, etc. If you have some ideas about how we could help our local community please let us know. We'd love to hear them!
Field Trips
Throughout the year we schedule fun and exciting field trips for all children and age groups. Trips are planned based on age and developmental levels. Examples include Rotary Park, Edmonton Corn Maze, Telus World of Science, Jurassic Forest, West Edmonton Mall, Stony Plain Spray Park, University of Alberta Botanic Gardens, Pioneer Museum, etc. Some trips may require additional fees, which are the parents' responsibility, however we try to keep these fees to a minimum.
Daily Routines
Your child's day will be jam-packed with exciting activities, outdoor play, arts and crafts, free play, circle time, stories, play/exercise time, baking, and much more. For a more detailed daily schedule please stop in, or contact us.
Transportation
Currently bus pick-up and drop-off through Parkland Transportation is available throughout the school year. Keep in mind that it takes time to set up bussing or to have your child's bus stop changed, so please allow adequate time for changes to be made prior to your child's start date.
